Simple mastectomy
What is a Simple Mastectomy?
A simple mastectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the entire breast tissue, including the nipple and areola, to treat or prevent breast cancer. This surgery does not remove lymph nodes or chest muscles.
Benefits of a Simple Mastectomy
Removes cancerous tissue, reducing the risk of recurrence.
May be recommended when breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) is not an option.
Can be performed as part of a preventative strategy for high-risk patients.
Allows for future breast reconstruction if desired.
